Cost Accounting Manager - Europe

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage the cost accounting staff in Poland and in Europe (within assigned business unit).
  • Ensure that costs for the company's products and services are allocated according to corporate procedures and in compliance with financial accounting standards.
  • Oversee the cost control systems, manages and interprets cost audits, and prepares cost accounting reports for presentation to management.
  • Gather historical cost data (materials, labor, depreciation, operating expenses, etc.), to compare budgets with actual expenses.
  • Manage the cost accounting staff to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assist the business with the annual budget process by engaging with budget holders to deliver budgets.
  • Ensure the arrangement of cost of production to material costs, wages, and overhead costs.
  • Prepare estimates of costs for unique products to establish prices of products and to forecast production.
  • Apply the budget in costing system – setting up rates and other cost elements.
  • Contribute to discussions and reviews conducted during monthly audit/variance meetings.
  • Prepare, devise, and regulate procedures for establishing unit cost of services and products.
  • Maintain Bill of Materials for assigned plant(s).
  • Maintain finished goods and material codes for assigned plant (s).
  • Update of the standard costs for material and finished goods items.
  • Measure of the time for various blue-collar work activities.
  • Analyze of manufacturing variances on monthly basis: materials price and quantity variances, conversion costs variances.
  • Organize of monthly cost review meeting with plant management.
  • Control the stock level: materials, WIP and finished goods.

We expect you to have a university degree in the financial/accounting field.

You should have at least ten years of experience in accounting and financial controlling/costing in a manufacturing, global environment.

Experience in the refractories industry will be highly appreciated.


Managerial experience, either in a hierarchical or functional structure, is required. We are looking for you to have strong coaching skills and an involving, encouraging approach.


Fluent knowledge of Polish and English is necessary.


This job requires a strong network built and nurtured through direct interaction. Our indication is that travelling across Europe should take approximately 25% of your time.


You should be fluent in data analysis, supported by skills in Excel and ERP.


We expect that you will apply dynamism and logical judgment to diverse challenging situations.


You should have the ability to find resolution to complicated cost accounting problems and assist other accounting staff in harmonizing cost related issues.
