Applied AI Solutions Engineer – Manufacturing

Miejsce pracy: Kraków

Data dodania: 2026-10-23

About the Role

This role sits at the intersection of data, software engineering, and the business. We are looking for someone who can sit with the business, understand a problem and the available data, and turn it into a working solution.

You will build advanced data-driven tools that help people make better decisions and work differently, from production planning and process optimization to simulations, operational applications, and AI-enabled workflows.

You will spend time in our plants and functions, understanding how work really gets done. International travel will be an essential part of the role, as you will regularly visit Vesuvius sites globally to work directly with local teams and understand problems first-hand.

You will use modern AI development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and similar technologies to dramatically accelerate how quickly solutions can be built and iterated. But this is not "vibe coding". Strong software and data engineering fundamentals are critical. You need to understand the data, know what good engineering looks like, recognize when AI-generated solutions are wrong, and build things that are robust, maintainable, and capable of scaling.

Importantly, we are looking for someone who can operate between the "quick POC that never scales" and the "heavy technology project that takes months to deliver value". Build quickly, validate with users and real data, engineer what matters, and work with IT to scale what works.

Your success will be measured in solutions adopted, problems solved, hours saved, and business impact created.

What You'll Do

  • Spend real time with the business, including regular travel to Vesuvius sites globally, to understand how work actually gets done and identify problems worth solving.
  • Explore and connect data from different operational and enterprise sources, understand what it represents, and turn it into applications, data products, simulations, optimizers, and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex to dramatically accelerate development, while applying strong engineering judgment to review, test, and improve what is generated.
  • Get working versions in front of users quickly, validate them using real operational data, and iterate based on actual usage rather than waiting for perfect requirements.
  • Build solutions that are pragmatic, robust, and maintainable, balancing speed and scalability without unnecessary complexity.
  • Own solutions end-to-end, from the first business conversation and data exploration through delivery and adoption, working with IT and platform teams to scale successful solutions.

What We're Looking For

  • Genuine interest in how a business runs, not just in the technology.
  • Strong software and data engineering fundamentals, with hands-on programming skills in Python and SQL.
  • Experience with Databricks and Azure platforms.
  • Experience building real applications or data products, not just notebooks, analysis, or prototypes.
  • Practical experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, or similar, combined with the technical depth to judge and improve their output.
  • Strong understanding of modern LLM and agentic architectures, including different RAG and agentic patterns, their trade-offs, and how to apply them effectively in production solutions
  • Ability to talk to non-technical people, listen, ask the right questions, and translate ambiguous problems into working solutions.
  • A pragmatic mindset: move fast, keep things simple where possible, but understand when stronger engineering is required.
  • A track record of solutions that were used, not just built, and the ownership to see them through.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally on a regular basis.

Nice to Have

  • Manufacturing, operations, or supply chain exposure.
  • Optimization, simulation, or operations research experience.
  • UX design experience
