Position description:

  • The Senior Sanctions & Due Diligence Analyst supports Vesuvius’s global operations by providing specialized advisory and guidance on applicable export control, due diligence, trade compliance, and sanctions regulations to the Business Unit (BU) operations, playing a key role in advising, informing, and supporting BU teams to ensure their activities align with regulatory requirements.
  • Working under the guidance of the Global Sanctions Manager (GSM), the Senior Analyst assists in the development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the company’s global trade compliance program. Key activities include conducting due diligence on transactions and business partners, supporting export classification and licensing processes, and contributing to risk assessments and compliance frameworks.
  • The role collaborates closely with cross-functional stakeholders across Supply Chain, Legal, Procurement, Sales, Customs, and Export Control teams to help safeguard the company’s international business activities and ensure alignment with regulatory expectations.
  • Responsible for conducting due diligence, assessing regulatory and compliance risks, and ensuring adherence to internal policies and applicable laws.
  • Provide advisory and support to Business Unit (BU) teams on export and re-export licensing processes, regulatory requirements, end-use/end-user restrictions, and best practices to help ensure international shipments, transfers, and transactions comply with applicable export control and sanctions regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with business units logistics and supply chain teams to implement compliant processes and maintain regulatory adherence throughout all stages of trade execution ad
  • Conduct restricted party screening and assess associated compliance, sanctions, trade, and export/import control risks for all counterparties and transactions.
  • Oversee the onboarding of new customers and third parties, performing timely reviews to identify potential red flags, assess regulatory obligations, and recommend risk mitigation measures for management review and approval.
  • Manage periodic reassessment and ongoing monitoring of existing third-party relationships, including coordination with business units and regional compliance contacts to complete due diligence questionnaires, document findings, and escalate any compliance concerns.
  • Provide actionable guidance to internal stakeholders, proposing risk mitigation strategies, ensuring consistent application of compliance policies, and maintaining thorough records for audit readiness.
  • Track and analyze changes in international sanctions and export control regimes (OFAC, EU, UK, UN, BIS, ITAR), assess their implications on Vesuvius operations, engage with business unites to ensure and relevant central functions to ensure that the impact is understood and support them on implementation of relevant changes in the operating processes.
  • Communicate regulatory updates to relevant teams and assess potential business impact.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain export control, sanctions, and trade compliance policies and procedures.
  • Conduct training and awareness sessions for employees on export controls, sanctions, and due diligence processes.
  • Support compliance audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen compliance culture.

Requirements:

Education: 

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

Experience:

  • 5+ years’ of relevant experience in an international company with English as a functional language
  • Experience managing multiple projects with varying timeframes and deadlines

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of due diligence and Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures
  • Knowledge of International Sanctions Regulations, Export Control Regimes, Dual Use Goods
  • Prior use of a compliance system/software such as Dow Jones, One Trust, Thomson Reuters/Refinitiv, and ERP (SAP) a bonus but not a requirement

Skills & Behavior:

  • Must be fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Strong MS office skills (Excel, Word) and clear grasp of IT solutions to facilitate training
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
