The end of January was a time of intensive and meaningful activities for Vesuvius in Skawina. One of the key milestones was a three-day ISO 14001 recertification audit, the international standard for Environmental Management Systems. The audit was conducted by the independent certification body LRQA and concluded with full success, confirming the high maturity of our processes and the genuine commitment of our teams to environmental responsibility.

ISO 14001 defines requirements that help organizations systematically identify, manage, and minimize the environmental impact of their operations. The assessment covers, among others, compliance with environmental regulations, the effectiveness of environmental risk management, waste management practices, energy and natural resource consumption, emergency preparedness and response, as well as employee awareness and engagement.

A recertification audit is far more than a formal review of documentation and procedures. It is a comprehensive evaluation of day-to-day operational practices, planning processes, monitoring of environmental objectives, and the organization’s approach to continuous improvement. Equally important is organizational culture, openness to change, accountability, and the willingness to take initiatives that genuinely support sustainable development.

The audit process also helps identify areas for further improvement and development. As a result, ISO 14001 is not merely a certificate, but a practical tool that supports the company’s long-term strategy, enhances operational efficiency, strengthens credibility with business partners, and contributes positively to the surrounding environment.

The successful outcome of the audit is the best confirmation that Vesuvius in Skawina operates at the highest standards and that environmental responsibility is an integral part of our daily work.
